Teaching reading strategies through guided reading

For teachers K-6
Presented by Robyn Wild, literacy consultant
Guided reading offers teachers the opportunity to 'come in close' with groups of students who have similar issues with reading, and to offer them targeted support. With participants, Robyn will explore ways that you can adapt guided reading strategies to your specific classroom situation, and get all students reading effectively.
Participants will:
* reflect on the place of guided reading within a balanced literacy program
* address issues around organising for small group teaching
* identify specific reading processes and strategies
* view a DVD of guided reading lessons
* design a guided reading lesson for use with a group in your class.
